Hello beautiful people....It has been a while. Life has been incredibly busy.... Hope you are all doing well?
Going to start a new series today. Brushes, brushes, brushes! I collect brushes. Yep! Brushes.... I got into calligraphy a few years ago and that lead into Fude..Long story....May not be so relevant for this post but will talk about it in future posts.
Either way, my preference for makeup brushes is Fude but not a brush snob by any means and have a number of synthetic brushes from different brands. Been thinking about giving brush brand reviews and it should be an interesting read or may be of help for those trying to get makeup brushes.
So....Lets' get started!
Brand for today is Anisa beauty.....If you have an instagram account and follow any beauty reviewer or blog you must have been bombarded by adverts etc of Anisa beauty.
They specialise in synthetic makeup and skincare brushes and recently got into eye makeup brushes. These brushes went viral with glowing reviews. They are cruelty free and vegan. Tall order.....
The founder's birthday rolled around and I was offered a 50% off the brush value, 20% welcome bonus and you can stack up the discounts. Where can I sign up? I ended up getting 4 of the face brushes to try. I got a travel foundation brush as an added bonus.
Transaction went smoothly.... I received my brushes timely as well as packaged great, which is an added bonus in my opinion.
The makeup face brushes I am focusing on today are of a deep purple shade with the silver ring on the ferrule. These have a good weight to them. Not heavy and not too light as well. Very easy to hold and handle. Even for a Fude user like myself whose preference is for shorter handles, these still work a treat.
I tested this out for over a month to be sure of my feelings for them. One thing I did not like on sight was the brush heads. The shade at the top, is this white, brown, cream? They just looked dirty.

So....I got the pinnacle foundation brush, angled concealer brush, buffing bronzer brush and the multi-powder brush with the travel foundation brush as a gift with purchase.
I was so quick to rip those babies out of the packaging and try them....and that was where the issues began.....I tend to run new brushes across my skin and they were scratchy as hell!
Washed they to get rid of any loose hairs and potential dirt....on drying, they were still scratchy.....
I was at a loss to understand the high ratings/rave reviews these brushes were getting. Was it me? My skin is not sensitive....so why the issues?

Lets talk through the brushes...
The pinnacle foundation brush sells for USD38. This brush is pretty densely packed with a little give.
I found this brush scratchy when used with thin consistency foundations or skin tints. I used this with the Pat Mcgrath foundation initially and while this blended well and buffed the foundation into my skin great, This hurt my face. The prickling was pretty bad. I was uncomfortable after using the brush.
After numerous washes and using with a thicker foundation (consistency) in particular the LYS foundation, This worked fine without any prickling.

Angled concealer brush goes for USD28. I disliked this brush at first. When I used it after first wash, this pricked under eye quite badly and hurt.
After several washes and used with a thicker consistency concealer, it worked a treat. Blended well and buffed in the product.
I am just not sure of a brush you have to work so hard to make it work and will only work with certain products.

The multi purpose powder brush goes for USD40. The design is incredibly slanted with shorter bristles in front and longer at the back. This reminds me on the BK beauty 101 brush, just loosely packed.
This is my second fav of the lot. This works a treat for setting my face. Taking points off because, I prefer brushes that perform multiple functions. I got this because of the name and assumed I could use for bronzer as well.
If you are on the lookout for a brush that will give you helmet face when applying bronzer, this is it. You can apply bronzer but just unable to get that diffused natural glow look that I love with this brush.

The bronzer brush goes for USD34 and this is the one I dislike and will be getting rid of. This just does not work as a bronzer brush.
Does not blend powder bronzers. Good for placements, so may work as a contour brush.
This lifts my foundation and just too densely packed to work as a bronzer.
My best brush of the lot is the travel foundation brush which I got as a gift with purchase but if buying individually, will cost you USD18.
I love the travel foundation brush because i have used this with every foundation I have and it works. From emollient creamy foundation to powder, to cream foundation to liquid foundation. This works, blends and buffs into skin. no prickling to be had here. Just perfection.
Also works a great with cream blushes.
Overall, keeping the brushes with the exception of the bronzer brush. Even with the discounts, you can certainly get better on the market. I advise you pass on these and if you are interested, try to wash them a few times before use.
I am curious to see anyone who has these brushes and know how they worked for you. Hit me up in the comments section.
Thanks everyone for spending a small part of your day with me! See you on the next post.
