Battle of the cleansing balms….

Hello people! Been a busy week. Trying to wind down by writing a blog post. Don’t say it, I know. Winding down by writing. Am weird as defined by a niece.

On to the topic at hand…..

Switched to cleansing balms about a year ago. It has been a battle to find one that works, does not burn my eyes out…, if anyone has been having the same problem as me, this post might be helpful to you.

Previous user of micellar water exclusively to get my makeup off. It’s cheap and fast way to get it all off but I always felt while it did clean, some of my makeup settled into fine lines despite going in with a second cleanse. Made the decision to stop and switch to cleansing balms. Liked the premise of melting off your makeup.

Hence the battle to find one that works for me. Would buy a large bottle of micelles water for £5. Could I find a good cleansing balm for around that price? Let’s see.

Tried the Beauty pie plantastic apricot butter cleansing balm - This goes for £19.18 if you are a member and £50 if you are not. Yep! Significant price difference to my micellar water.

This also came with a linen wipe. I really like this cleansing balm. It works a treat. Gets rid of makeup, does not dry out your skin, still feels hydrated afterwards, has a pleasant scent and a little goes a long way.

However, this burned my eyes out. Had to stop using this for eye makeup which is a significant portion of my makeup. Had to go in with micellar water to get rid of my eye makeup. As such this did not serve it true purpose. I am on my second one, so you can guess I love it but it just does not meet up with my full needs.

One thing to also note about this is, it does not do well in heat. It melts into liquid. If you live in a humid environment, this melts completely.

Tried Juvia skin cleansing balm - this goes for $16.20. I HATE this cleansing balm. Does not work. Just sits on your skin. When you rub it in, it does kind of melt off your makeup but when you rinse it off, then it clumps up and hangs in there with your makeup. It’s also gives you the heavy feeling. Worse on eye makeup.

Going in immediately with a second cleanse, it then washes off completely. I took to using this solely in the shower to go in immediately with the 2nd cleanse using the Juvia skin cleansing gel and a 3rd cleanse with my face cleanser.

The quantity you get for the price is also very small. Will have a review of Juvia skin soon.

Tried the farmacy sweet apple clean - Goes for $34. I did not really have much hope for this one given my previous experiences.

What an example of perfection in a cleansing balm ! I LOVE this. Does exactly what it should! Easy and lovely to get on, lovely scent, rub in with circular motions, rinse off with warm water. Everything goes off including eye makeup, mascara even. Does not sting the eyes or skin. Leaves you hydrated And CLEAN!

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this cleansing balm other than the price. Got one in a TrendMood box and got a back up at a great discount. If you can get this discounted, I say go for it. I can honestly buy this even at full price, I love it that much! For me, that says a lot.

I also tried the Elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm - Goes for £44. To be upfront. I dislike most Elemis products.

However due to good ratings, decided to try this cleansing balm. Horrid mistake!

Can you say greasy? If you have dry skin, you may like this. For oily skin or combination skin, this is not good. Too oily, messy, liquidy and turns completely liquid in humid environment.

When I use this, it did clean my makeup but left my skin a greasy mess afterwards. Had to wash my face several times to get rid of the oily residue.

It is also heavily scented to an offensive degree, burned my eyes and hurt for at least 5 mins after use. After using 3 times with same results, I binned this. Did not pass this to someone else, just not safe to use in my opinion. So….after trying 4 cleansing balms…I recommend the Farmacy cleansing balm confidently!
