Hello Everyone! How has your week been? Hope everyone is doing great?
One of the things I will be focusing on this year is to incorporate the main topic of my instagram (Fude) into my blog. Provide more detailed reviews on this site and offer advise on what I think is good based on my usage and experience.
So in that vein, taking it to Chikuhodo Takumi Series. I am not going to focus on the Chikuhodo company nor brush measurement or price.
Previously provided company information on a previous post for the FO Series. However, for those looking for more information on the company, the link to their website is; https://www.chikuhodo.com/en/company/index.html. They also have an online store linked to their site but would not advise buying from them directly.
You can get discounts via other retailers like CDJapan (https://www.cdjapan.co.jp), Fudebeauty (https://fudebeauty.com), fudejapan (https://store.fudejapan.com), Fudebobo (https://fudebobo.com). My preference is to buy from one of those sites. Those sites also offer brush measurement and pricing information.
There are about 11 brushes in this series. I have 9 of them.

These are pictures of the Takumi series when they arrived prior to washing and blooming.
The handles of these brushes are lightweight. The hairs are made from Goat high grade Saikoho hairs.

When they arrived, they had a slight scent of goat. After the 1st wash and airing, this dissipated.
These are goat hairs brushes and will work well with creams, powders and liquids.
When I researched these brushes prior to purchases, I read they were made from high grade saikoho hairs and I agree with that assessment.
The hairs are very fine especially the T.1 which has hairs that are very fine. Rubbing this against my skin and there are no pricks. The hairs glides like air.

This is a picture of the 9 brushes of the Takumi brushes I have after the washing, using and re-washing. The bloom has set in.
Lets' go through the brushes I have and their uses.
We have the T-1. the big mama powder brush. I have always found these big mama powder brushes a bit on the redundant side.
If you are not a collector but if its your thing, this is a good one to have.
This brush is a one trick pony and you can only use this for that one purpose. Powdering/setting.
For me this is one of my favourites aspects of makeup. When you finish off your makeup, open your eyes and perfection. Sets up your day. You are riding that high until you know life.....
However, if you are someone who is into practicalities and multi-functional brushes, the T-2 can do the same job.
T-4 and T-5 - The T-4 and T-5 are cheek brushes. The T-4 is the middle brush in the picture below, while the T-5 is the brush on the brush on the right side of the picture below.

The T-4 is denser than the T-5. I would recommend the T-4 for cream cheek products and the T-5 for powder blushes.
The T-5 is airy with less hairs than the T-4. If you are into cream or liquid cheek products, then T-4 is for you.
If you are into powder blushes, the T-5 is for you.
The T-4 is more versatile than the T-5. You can use it with creams, powders and liquids. it has better pickup than the T-5.
If you are watching your pockets, best to invest in the T-4 than the T-5.

This is the T-2. I use this brush for bronzing. Also multi-functional. You can use this for blush.
If you use mostly powder cheek products, you can skip the T-4 and T5. This brush can perform those tasks.
Moderately dense with great pick-up.

This reminds me of the Hakuhodo G5542 brush which is my favourite bronzer brush.
The T-11 and T-13 are the 2 foundation brushes I have from this series.
Both can be used for creams, liquids and powder foundations.
The T-11 is the brush on the left. I use this mostly for cream foundations. Tom Ford Traceless foundation, Mented cosmetics foundation.
The T-13. I used for liquids and powder foundations.
I have found when I use T-11 for liquids, this leaks into the bristles and hard to get out, so I reserve for creams only.

T-6 (brush on the left). I use this for highlight or all over matte eye shadow.
For those of us with hooded eyes, this brush is limited for eyeshadow, hence why I use it for highlight.
T-8 - This is one of my favourite brush shapes. Perfect of outer V and under eye. Can also use to build pigment in the crease.
T-12 - Lash line brush and also used for shimmers on lid.
Those are all the brushes I have from this series.

I opted to skip out of the T-3 brush.
I have number of flat top brushes with different hairs which would have made this brush redundant.
Also have a Takeda saikoho flat top brush which served the exact same purpose this brush would have.
The other 2 brushes I skipped out of are the lip brush and the eye brow brush. Both are unnecessary for my makeup style.
Overall, the Takumi series has high grade hairs and they are solid brushes worth the value.
I however do do not feel they are cohesive. Some are unnecessary. The T-2, T-4 and T-5 are not all are necessary. You can choose one depending on your choice of products you use them with.
The T-3, T-11 and T-13 all serve the same purpose as well and not all are necessary.
Also more eye brushes are needed. All in all, if you are interested in this series, would advise you get those brushes that are aligned to your makeup style rather than getting the full set.
