Health....Fastrack?

Global pandemic! Corona virus. We all started working from home. Been working from home mostly since March 2020 till date. This has taken a toll on my weight. Cannot say this has been solely responsible, combined with not taking very good care of self exercise wise has also taken its toll.

Decided to do something about it. Changed my diet, committed to my multivitamins (researched and carefully selected what was best for me), personal trainer. Developed a routine (exercised 4 days a week. 1 hour power walking from 5.45am, followed by a 40 minutes session with a personal trainer) which I became consistent at. Weight started dropping, to the point my clothes became loose and people started commenting on my weight loss, higher energy levels.

I felt great!

Then I got thinking....(not a good idea in this case) . What if! What if, I could find a way to lose 15kg in 2 weeks? Is it possible? Would that be good for my health?

Researched, then came across this lady on Instagram (weight loss guru) who promised miraculous results via dieting and 30 minutes exercising for 5 days a week. You had to pay a token fee to join her weight loss club. There were pictures of her clients with their dramatic weight loss displayed on her page. Videos of her cooking healthy foods. Here comes the bad idea decision....Sign me up!!!!

Signed up, paid the token fee, sent me a questionnaire about my measurements, weight ideal weight loss for the 2 weeks I joined for. Sent in my details and was sent a detailed meal plan for the 2 weeks thinking, just changing my diet but would continue with my current exercise plan. Right?

My meal plan for the 2 weeks is detailed below (alongside this, advised to drink 8 - 10 glasses of water daily, since I drink quite a lot of water, this did not seem out of place:

Day 1 - Fruit day, can have all except bananas.

Day 2 - Large potato for breakfast and veg for the rest of the day. No oil.

Day 3 - Fruit & veg day. No banana or potato.

Day 4 - Milk and bananas are only options for the day

Day 5 - cup of cooked rice or slice of yam with veg. 6 tomatoes and fruit/veg for rest of day.

Day 6 - All veg day

Day 7 - 1 cup of rice or slice of yam for morning. Fruit, veg and natural juice for rest of day.

Day 8 - Bowl of low sugar cereal or oats, fruits for rest of day

Day 9 - Large sweet potato, one boiled egg for breakfast and veg rest of day

Day 10 - Fruit & veg of your choice. Lunch can be veg stew and choice carbohydrate with fish.

Day 11 - Bowl of oats or 2 slices of bread, milk and one boiled egg for breakfast. 2 glasses of skimmed milk with bananas & a handful groundnuts.

Day 12 - One portion of pepper soup (beef, chicken or fish) , cup of cooked beans and plantain for lunch. Combine with 6 tomatoes.

Day 13 - Low sugar cereal/oats, pepper soup for lunch and veg for rest of day.

Day 14 - Rice, plantain, meat/fish. then fruits/veg all day.

Seems simple enough.

However, the one thing, I did not do before I started was consult my doctor!

The natural sugars from the excess fruits on day 1 forced my period out before time, gave me serious period pains. Essentially, was sick as a dog for the 1st 2 days. Could barely get up not to mention exercise.

Day 3, had a permanent headache with incredibly low energy. Day 4's milk and bananas was a bust. Both items, I dislike. I ate it all the same, led to throwing up with my energy levels still low.

Long story short! Felt incredibly terrible for the whole 2 weeks. However, I kept at it. End of the 1st week, I did lose weight but about 1 kg. The next week, despite still feeling sick, I gained weight.

Overall, terrible decision! This diet did not work for me. I should have consulted a doctor before I started.

Showed the plan to my sister, she laughed and told me I was crazy to follow it.

Lesson learned. Giving my body a rest, then going back to my normal routine which worked for me.

If anyone wants the details of the weight loss guru's details, hit me up by email or the comment section and I will provide. While this did not work for me, it might for you. A word of caution, ensure you consult your doctor before you follow any recommendation.
