Hello! It has been a minute since I have been here....Life has been crazy busy but back to scheduled programming....
How are you all doing? Hope life has been treating you great.
Was my Cousin's birthday, this week, so giving her a shout out....Happy Birthday again LO!
To start, I need to rant about Hourglass...which in my opinion is one of the least inclusive cosmetics brands out there and one I boycott over two year ago so not been particularly interested in their releases or current products.
However, after seeing their new release, got frustrated......lets examine why.
For years, everyone and their grandma has been complaining about the lack of deeper shades in their product range especially for us melanin gorgeous ladies out there....How does hourglass respond? By listening to the customer requests? Nope....

They release this! Curator eyeshadows! 40 shades. You create your own palette, singles, trios or five pans.....
Still not bad right?
To the good points, you can customise your own palette (so can you with many other brands, Sydney Grace, Shine by SD etc), refillable and re-useable? In my opinion, the curator palette is not re-useable unless you get the shadows from this collection.
Last time, I tried their eyeshadow formula, I was not particularly impressed. It was ok, will do the job, blend-able and if you are a starter, you can work with it.

Now onto my rant...They are selling curator eyeshadows, one pan for £38, three pans for £96 and five pans for £156.
I fail to understand the logic of this or justification for the price hike. Someone literally came up with this idea and no one at all at Hourglass was capable of saying No! Terrible idea!

They actually went ahead and produced this.
I get it if you are a massive fan of hourglass as a brand, you can afford the cost of this and no concern of cost v quality, would make sense to buy but given the issues and talk of lack of inclusivity, How is this actually relevant?

Or even worth it?
Someone mentioned the casing/packaging as a reason for the price hike. Honestly, unless made out of solid gold or Brad Pitt pops up and applies the eyeshadows himself, nothing can justify the cost. Sorry but true.
If Aunty Pat (Pat McGrath) can sell 10 pan massive eyeshadows (motherships) for £120 and frequently on sale of 25% to 30% off, there is no excuse for this. Am sorry.
For those who want to learn more about quality, pigmentation, Jena Froese took the hit for us all and reviewed a three pan. You can find her review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpQYNjYTDb4
For anyone looking to buy luxury eyeshadows that are worth their value, examples are below:
