Hello all, hope the past week treated you well? Me? Work is becoming more hectic. Crazy hectic! Welcome to 2024 I say.
I was talking to a friend who recently hit the 40s and wanting to pay more attention to herself this year. Started wearing makeup again.
We got talking and she complained about makeup pries going through the roof. My response was to looks at other brands especially drugstore who have fantastic products at less prices (drugstore prices also going through the roof though but that is a story fo another day).
I suggested Jcat beauty for eye shadows which lead me to wanting to talk about the products I have from this brand and what I need to declutter out.
So...lets get into it.
This brand started in 2013. Their moto is high quality and smart pricing makeup. Ulta stocks their products and I got everything I have with them for 50% to 80% discounted.
Jcat stands for; just cruelty-free affordable trendy. The brand really has everything makeup related as well as skincare and I use that term loosely. Skincare to them is different kinds of cleanser and primer. They are all available on their site including beauty tools. You can create a whole makeup face using their products.
I have not used their base makeup products so cannot talk about their shade ranges or inclusivity.
I have their buffing brush somewhere. Could not locate it at the time of this post. It was a torture tool, also incredibly small. This may be because my taste in brushes run to fude but then, I do have some synthetic brushes. I would not recommend their tools to be completely honest. From usage even with the low price, I would not recommend.

Perfect duo brow pencils. These go for 3.99usd. Got them for about a dollar including tax. I would not recommend these
They have them in about 8 shades. Had them in 4 shades and discarded 2 of them. They dry out pretty quick.
The shades I current have are brown and dark brown. For the discounted price, these are ok. At full price, no. I can get juvia's place and nyx brow pencils which are great at discounted prices that match the full price of this brow pencil.
The pencil is too thick so you cannot achieve the hair like strokes I prefer. It's almost like you have to paint them on. Like them to also be a little waxy. These are not.
The good thing about them are they can last a solid 4 hours on your brows, the spooley at the end and the shade range is ok.

Got 3 of the Dia and noches trig-elements pigment palettes. There are 5 within this series and i have 3 of these palettes.
Used all 3 palettes several times and one thing I can say is there are very inconsistent.
While the brand has other eyeshadow palette series, this was the one that spoke to me the most. Basically, like the colour stories the best.
Each goes for 7.99usd.They were also on 50% sale making them 3.49usd each. A 15 pan palette for that price is great.
Lets' go through each with swatches on deep dark skin.

This is around the clock palette. Pigmented to a certain degree. The swatches shown is going into the pan twice to showcase the shades.
The shadows are very powdery. This can blend into nothingness, so require some building to get to the intensity you want.
For beginners into eyeshadows this may be for you. You can control the intensity and can blend them out easily.

This is the DPN 101 DIA. This has the worst formula of the 3. Incredibly powdery. It gets everywhere. The shimmer shadows are super flaky. Within an hour of having this on your eyelids, your cheeks look like a fairy took a dump on your cheeks.
Nope! Rather pay a little more for something that works.
Swatches also show me going into the pan twice to build that intensity on deep dark skin.

DPN 102 Noche palette. This is the best of the lot. Has the best formula. For a new beginner who is interested these palettes, this is the one I would recommend.
The light blue shadow on row 2 is the only shimmer shade that is flaky. This is much less powdery than the other 2.
You will still need to build the shadows. Worn this palette including the red shimmer shade and this lasted 8 hours till end of day and still had to take off with a cleansing balm.

Showing more of the shimmer shade on low row here. I like this palette and only one I can recommend for a new beginner and will be keeping.
Going to declutter the other 2.
That is all the products I have from Jcat beauty. If you are on a budget, this is one brand you can check out and better if you can get it on a sale.
Your pocket will thank you.
